Do you remember when you realized photography was more than a point and shoot camera?
The very first camera I ever had was a Canon AE-1 film SLR given to me by my father when I was about 10 years old. I knew right away that I could never use a point and shoot camera after that.
What was your first camera? And what is your current.
Canon AE-1 as I mentioned.  Right now I have a Canon 1dMKIV and Canon 5dMKII
What has photography done to your life?
Flipped it on its head.  I have a degree in Aerospace Engineering but I haven’t used it for even one day.  Once I decided I wanted to shoot photos I never looked back.
As a career photography has let you see much of the world. Where are the places you wish to return or are most memorable? carr1
Verbier in Switzerland and Wanaka in New Zealand are two of the most beautiful places I’ve been to.
Being an action sport photographer, one would generally assume you also play the games you shoot. What are favorite sports to do with out a camera bag on your back?
Skiing and Snowboarding are my passions but I love to ride my mountain bike in Whistler in the summer and play a bit of disc golf!
Who or what do you look too find inspiration in?
I mostly shoot skiing photos but  I look at a lot of snowboard photography.  I also read a lot of landscape and travel photography websites to remind me how beautiful our planet can be if you get out and explore it.
Life behind a lens means being witness to the best of times and the worst. Please let us know an experience from each.
Best: Seeing a riders face when you tell them that their hard work scored them a cover shot.
Worst: Photographing a good friend of mine, Luke Potts, backflip off a cliff and get it wrong crushing one of his vertebrae.
What would you say to a young shooter with who dreams of traveling the world taking photos of the elite athletes in our sports?
Remember that there are thousands of young shooters dreaming of the same thing, make sure you differentiate yourself from them in some way.  And don’t ever give a photo away for free.
Tell us one over looked lesson you have learned in the photo business:
carr2Too many young photographers concentrate so much on learning about the art of photography when in fact they would be better off learning about how to run a business and just let their photos speak for themselves.

If you choose a job you love, you will never work a day in your life. - Confucius

My next photo is my best one – I’m not sure who said this, I’ve had this written on my facebook page for a couple of years and there’s a distinct possibility that I made it up myself.  Either way, it reminds me to get out there and keep shooting because there is always another great shot to be made somewhere.
