Dirt Magazine Cover - Sven Martin

Back when I was the editor for Mountain Biking Magazine I ran a cover of Nathan Rennie at Fort William. That issue will always linger in my head for being- not quite right. That particular issue was supposed to be about Steve Peat as we ran a feature interview on him. As far as I was concerned it was the Sheffield Steal's issue... but we didn't have a suitable 'cover' shot of him. His name made the cover, but beside Mr. Rennie's image.

I alway thought it was slightly soft on our part for running it like we did. The actual interview was stellar and Sven Martin did all the work with the photography and text. It's still to this day, one of my favorite things we did at the magazine for content, layout and images.

The reason I bring this up now is becuase Sven just landed another cover and with Steve Peat- this time on DIRT magazine. In similar fashion it features an in your face cover shot with the current World Cup leaders name in big letters right beside the main action. Steve Peat is not the current World Cup leader. Aaron Gwin is.

Am I only the only one who thinks there should be an unwritten etiquette with covers?

Regardless Sven's photo of Steve Peat is beautiful and I'm sure any one who has tried to shave the lip off a jump with there tires will appreciate it.

Congrats again Sven on another brilliant image of Steve Peat.

Sven uses the fstop SATORI when he is hiking the World Cup tracks and the fstop LOKA when he is in the saddle.
