Just used it on my first documentary shoot in the mountains and love the functionality and carry comfort of this pack. My only issue so far is that one of the zipper strings broke and one of the front corners of the outer pocket looks like it’s already tearing - that part is disappointing since we only did 16 real mountain miles. Other than those two things, I recommend this pack to everyone!
Sukha 70L Backpack: We have taken our Sukha on two 7-week photo expeditions to Nepal: Annapurna Region (2022) and Chitwan Region (2023 (www.jushenlee.com). Whilst my partner, Ju Shen, is the internationally acclaimed photographer, I am the mere Bag Wallah. So, I am fully qualified to recommend the Sukha, as the best backpack when you are visiting remote regions. Even with the Large ICU in it, there is still sufficient room to pack 2 pairs of gloves, 2 rain jackets, water bottles, and gifts for the villagers we visit. Regardless of the load, the Sukha is easy to put on, **** off, and access quickly. It is also very comfortable to carry, and its slim profile helps keep one inconspicuous. Most importantly, it fits in the overhead cabins of the small aircraft on the regional flights we take to these remote locations. Because of this, we have just purchased our second Sukha, so that we can carry all Ju Shen’s camera gear, our travel documents, and cold weather gear for arrival, on board all our flights. We shall do so when we travel to Sri Lanka for our next photo-expedition at the end of this year. One Sukha will have the Large ICU, with all the camera gear, whilst the second Sukha will have a Medium ICU, with all the extensive data backup gear, and numerous chargers. The second Sukha will also have our 16-in MacBook Pro in a f-stop Dyota Laptop Sleeve. The Dyota sleeve will make it very easy for us to extract, carry, scan, and repack our laptop as we progress through airport security at both the landslide and airside, and at both or departure point and our destination.; 4 times per flight leg! Customer Service: The f-stop Customer Service is second key reason why we purchase exclusively from f-stop. Even though we live in Malaysia and Singapore (12-15 hours ahead of USA), all our questions were answered promptly and professionally. The answers were complete and helpful, and often accompanied with product photos, links, and recommendations. This is excellent and exceptional customer service! Customer Support: We live in Malaysia and Singapore on the ‘other side’ of the world, and so the f-stop Customer Support is the third key reason why we are f-stop exclusive. All our questions on the shipping requirements and process to Singapore were answered promptly and professionally. And, in line with Customer Service, all the replies were complete and helpful. This hands-on customer support for delivery is crucial for a peace of mind, that our precious f-stop gear will arrive without unnecessary transport and customs delays. Once again, this is truly outstanding Customer Support!
Not a great bag if you plan to actually hike and do some adventuring. A mile or two from the car? This would work, but ten miles up a mountain, no way. On this F-Stop site you see happy people adventuring with skis and tons of gear. They must be paid actors or their smiles are actually winces of pain, The two biggest issues are quality and comfort. The stitching in places started to fail after just one hike with this bag. I’m planning to submit a warranty claim. Second, and this is really a big issue, it's an incredibly uncomfortable bag. I mean really uncomfortable. It’s like wearing one of those old school pack boards. There is very little hip support and no cushion for your lower back so the bag slides down your back and all the weight ends up on your shoulders. No matter how tight you cinch the not-very-robust waist strap, the bag still puts all the weight on your shoulders. There’s no way this bag was field tested by R&D at F-Stop. Anyone who does serious hiking with this thing would find this to be the case. My wife, who is a different height and waist size, tried this bag and said the same thing. I can't emphasize enough how miserable it is to wear this thing for a multi mile hike. A third but somewhat minor annoyance is the access to the gear. The strap side opening doesn't give full access to the camera insert. The whole top portion of the camera insert is not easily accessible as it is blocked by the top zipper. Sort of like accessing a square peg through an ovular hole. Another minor annoyance is the strap side access/back support/work surface sits tight against your back so you get maximum sweatiness. All of my hiking with this has been in the winter and I dread using this in the summer. One other minor thing is the side pocket design is dumb. They say they are expandable but they are really not. It’s just a dumb design. I’m not a camel back guy so I put Nalgenes in the side. Each side fits a one-liter Nalgene bottle but that’s it. Weird considering the pocket is the full length of the bag. The top portion is unusable. There are some positives! There is a ton of room in this 70L bag. Tons of internal pockets. Lots of amazing weather proofing and waterproof zippers. The bag itself seems super robust and durable minus the stitching issues. I bought this bag as a replacement for a super old Tamron bag that I loved but was failing from use and age. Had really high hopes for this thing but am really let down. For the cost and technology available in 2024, I mistakenly assumed this bag would far be better than a camera bag from the 80’s but apparently not. Don’t believe the 96% Five star reviews on this F-Stop site. I’m sure they are scrubbing the negative reviews. As an FYI, I use this bag to carry large format 5x7 film gear up mountains.
Hi Peter, We are sorry to hear that the Sukha is not comfortable for you, please contact us ([email protected]) and we can refund you and get the Camera pack back.
For wildlife usual long prime lenses needs to get transported along with other gear. The sukha suits me so well I got 2 in different colors! 🙌 make sure to get some pouches as well
Great backpack. Tried in mountains already. Can pack everything you need and there is still some space. Recommend.
The best Aventure Backpack! light, resistant and full of details that made me fall in love at first sight with this fantastic backpack! the ease with which you can customize the backpack is incredible!
As a Landscape Astrophotographer space in the bag is a big thing for me. Usually I have 2/3 Cameras, a couple lenses and usually some trackers with me. It’s very important for me to carry all the stuff In an organized way with me, because in pitch black dark nights, you need to find things easy. I already own the Tilopa 50l and I expected nothing less the same high level quality. This 70l is basically the upgrade to the 50l with more space. Here I have all the benefits plus more space, keeping the same quality in comfort. Imo this bag is also a very good option for some mountain climbers, because it offers all the leaches you need to fix things like tent etc. overall all 5 star plus bag
I am very satisfied with the quality and the adaptability of the backpack
