Based on the wild West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island, Rachel is an award winning nightscape photographer, tutor and guide, specialising in wide-field panoramic nightscape imagery.
Her lifelong obsession with the cosmos evolved into astrophotography in 2016, leading to years of dedicated self taught learning and refinement, both in the field and in post processing.
Rachel’s bright and vibrant imagery, combined with her patience, precision, and determination, has seen her work recognised and exhibited both in New Zealand and internationally.
A strong advocate for protecting and promoting the value of dark skies, Rachel uses her imagery, workshops and guided photography experiences not only to teach her craft, but to encourage others to slow down, look up, and connect with both the night sky and the rugged, pristine beauty of New Zealand. Through her work, she raises awareness of the importance of truly dark skies, not only for astrophotography, but for our connection to the natural world, the health of our ecosystems, and the ability to experience the night sky as it is meant to be seen.
