Jo Stenersen is a professional Norwegian nature photographer based in Norway known for his powerful images of Scandinavian landscapes and wildlife. Based in the southeastern part of Norway growing up in a family and community where outdoor life played a central role, he developed an early and lasting connection to nature—something that continues to shape both his artistic vision and field ethics.

With a strong emphasis on natural light, composition, and respect for the environment, his images captures the shifting moods of the Scandinavian wilderness and intimate encounters with its wildlife. Through patience and field expertise he knows where to photograph birds and animals in their natural habitats ranging from dramatic coastal scenes to rugged mountain ranges.

A distinctive part of his work is the rental and operation of professional photo hides in Rendalen, Norway. In particular, his mountain-based eagle hide has gained recognition for its spectacular natural scenery, limited and exclusive access to only 4 photographers per day, with strong emphasis on ethical raptor photography. Designed to minimize disturbance and prioritize the welfare of the birds, the hide offers photographers rare opportunities to capture powerful images of wild golden eagles in a natural setting, while adhering to responsible wildlife practices.

Stenersen is also an official ambassador for OM System, reflecting his professional standing within the photographic community. In this role, he represents the brand through fieldwork, workshops, and public engagements, demonstrating equipment in demanding natural environments and sharing his experience with fellow photographers.

In addition to his photographic work, Stenersen is an active educator. He gives engaging lectures and offers exclusive one-on-one mentoring and guiding tailored to individual goals, and leads workshops for larger groups. Through patience, field knowledge, and a strong respect for the environment, he aims to help participants create images that convey both beauty and authenticity. At the same time helping photographers deepen their understanding of landscape and wildlife photography in southeastern Norway.

By combining technical precision, environmental awareness, and a commitment to ethical wildlife photography, Stenersen continues to contribute to Norway’s rich tradition of nature imagery, inspiring appreciation for the fragile and powerful landscapes of the North.

Jo Stenersen is also known as a skilled nature artist working with various techniques and media. Focusing mainly on portraits of wildlife and dogs, his works are very popular and sought after.
