From Sea to Summit
The Shinn pack (along with the packing accessories) is an amazing backpack. Having used it in the Sub Antarctics, in Fiordland (NZ), Gabonese Jungle trekking for a month after monkeys - where tough canvas packs are put to the test, I can say without hesitation that this is the real deal for serious expedition photography.
Here at home, Fiordland is brutal on gear. Horizontal rain, swollen river crossings, razor sedge, and mud that swallows boots whole. The Sub Antarctics add a different dimension entirely. Salt spray, kelp scrambles, and the kind of sustained wet that makes you question every piece of kit you own. The Shinn handled both without complaint.
The weather resistance is exceptional. After full days in driving Fiordland rain, my camera bodies and glass were dry. No garbage bag liners, no frantic mid-downpour reshuffling, just confidence. The welded seams and durable face fabric held up to repeated scraping through low beech forest and tussock without showing any meaningful wear.
What sets the Shinn apart in the field is how it balances protection with access. The ICU (Internal Camera Unit) system means your camera stays organized and protected without the pack becoming a fortress you have to dismantle every time you want a shot. In fast-moving wildlife situations on the islands, albatross coming in to land, sudden light on a cliff face, that speed of access is not a luxury, it’s the difference between getting the image and missing it entirely.
The carry is genuinely comfortable even when loaded with a full kit over long days. The hip belt and shoulder system handled the uneven terrain of Fiordland tracks without the hot spots or shifting you sometimes get with camera-specific packs that prioritize organization over ergonomics.
If you’re heading somewhere that will genuinely punish your gear, the Shinn is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended.

Exceptional!
Exceptional! The team at f-stop have only been a pleasant experience during my time in deciding which bag to purchase and throughout the full order. The service is of utmost quality - every time I requested an update on my the tracking of my bag they returned the emails quickly. The bag is sensational - far beyond what I imagined it would be. As a professional wildlife photographer and filmmaker, I have used countless bags and cases over the years, however never came across a product as strong, reliable and simple to use as f-stop gear. They have mastered the field in camera transport bags and accessories, and have covered all areas necessary for comfortable travel with a weather proof bag that protects the equipment. Since my first f-stop purchase I haven’t looked back and will continue to purchase the products for the future with the incasing of new equipment. I also can highly recommend their gear to any photographer or filmmaker looking for a protective unit to transport expensive equipment. I purchased the 80L Shinn DuraDiamond bag and ICU and I use it not only to carry my gear when traveling, however I also have my film camera and photographic camera set up and ready in the inner unit (ICU) next to me on the vacant seat, so I no longer need to worry about changing lenses to gear falling to the ground etc. It genuinely is an exceptional bag!!

The biggest ever used
I am a photographer with the need of carrying a lot of equipment and sometimes I need to manage to have all possible in a single place. This came as a great addition to the gear. It’s super strong and secure, it fits great and it fits a lot of stuff, I need to tested more but yet overall is definitely great.

Wonderful
As a nature and documentary photographer, I need a backpack that can keep up with demanding environments, protect my gear, and remain comfortable over long days in the field. The Shinn delivers on all fronts. Its massive capacity is perfect for carrying cameras, long lenses, drones, or even camping gear for extended expeditions. The build quality and modular design with ICUs make it a versatile and rugged tool, built for professionals who can’t afford to compromise. Definitely a worthwhile investment.

What happened to the waist strap?!
This is my second F-Stop pack. Loved my old one, and it’s travelled the world with me, but needed to upgrade for extra space. The bag is great - bar one change - the waist strap is no longer a plastic side release buckle. It’s two interlocking metal pieces: which clink and clatter… but more importantly, is impossible to remove without slackening, and impossible to remove with two hands. So I have to put my kit down, to take the bag off, which, when shooting on the go is often the difference between getting the shot, and not. Worse yet, if I need to get the bag off in an emergency, it’s a fiddly process. I probably would buy another one, but I’d definitely look at what else is on the market first.

love it but with a lot of problems
It's the second year that I'm using the Shinn Duradiamond, super comfortable, it fit everything you need in it and you don't feel the weight on your shoulder even after a full day with it. the problem is that I've just 2 zip that didn't broke yet and the main one in the back is slowly going to fail and is almost impossible to repair

A Great Camera Bag for Large Lenses and Big Adventures
I have used the Shin 80L bag for about 5 years and find it to be a great bag for my big whites and big adventures. I can fit my Canon RF 600 lens in it (camera unattached) and my RF 400 with R1 attached. The only issue I have had with this bag is the zipper tore away from the top pouch but f-stop replaced the bag for me without issue or hassle. Exceptional Customer Service. Thank you! Aloha, Lee

Incredible Backpack
I've had quite a few backpacks over 20 years ranging from Thinktank, Lowepro, Atlas Pack, you name it, it's been tried and tested here in Hawaii. Each one has their advantages and quirks. But the Shinn truly evened out the quirks, which are mainly either capacity, durability, or weight - choose two but you're left with something you'd like to change. The Duradiamond fabric is a more durable version to the highest grade waterproofing tech you'd see in higher end Goretex jackets. Zippers are all sealed. The flexible ICUs are so handy. Put a RED Komodo X kit together with 3 lenses and a Canon R5 for an 8 mile hike and things fell well balanced and protected in rain with and without the raincover, which was surprising. The next shoot didn't require stills, so I took out the Master Cine ICU and used the Large ICU to have a bit more room for a light kit ontop of the ICU in the pack. So awesome you can pull them out and repack. Didn't realize how handy the ICUs are. I can throw the Large into a Pelican 1510 snugly and put it on the plane if needed. Long story short, I won't be buying any other company's backpacks. Finally found exactly what I've been looking for, for many years. So much so that this is the first time I'm reviewing one because it's just so good.

Monster bag that fits everything you'd ever need!
This pack is a beast and can fit anything and everything that I'd ever need. 2 bodies, 180-600, drone, computer and a bunch more lenses. It doesn't get 5 stars from me because I am just not a fan of the straps. They are over-added and not flexible, too rigid and not comfortable in my opinion.
